RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawk's final home game of 2009 ended in defeat Tuesday, as Ripon fell 1-0 to Marian University. The Sabres out-shot the Red Hawks 17-11, including 9-4 in the first half, with one of those nine shots going for the game's only score.
After a scoreless 19 minutes, Marian's Danielle Grable netted her sixth goal of the season when she kicked in a rebound off a save in the 20th minute. That would be all the Sabres (10-6-1) would need for the victory.
Ripon goalkeeper Angelica Cooper played the full 90 minutes, saving 11 shots and giving up just that one goal. Tiffany Erdman also played the full 90 minutes, recording five saves in the process.
The Red Hawks will wrap up the regular season Saturday at Lawrence University. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Appleton, Wis.
