RALEIGH, N.C. - The Red Hawks headed out to North Carolina this week for a pair of games during their Fall Break Trip. Monday, during their first game on the east coast, Ripon failed to score a goal, losing to Meredith College (N.C.) 5-0.
Meredith used three first half goals to take control of the tempo of the game. The first goal came in the 25th minute, off the foot of Kristy Knight, who took a pass from Maggie Hart for the score. Two minutes later, Alex Calvert got into the action with the assist credited to Kimberly Williams. Just as it looked like Ripon would go into halftime with no further damage done, Emmy Errante scored the third goal of the game, unassisted, with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
In the 65th minute, Errante got into the scoring column again, thanks to another assist from Williams, making the score 4-0. Knight also netted her second goal of the game, two minutes later, to cap the scoring on another assist from Hart.
The Red Hawks managed just two shots on the night, compared to 28 for Meredith. Angelica Cooper played the entire game in goal for the Red Hawks, saving nine shots. Meredith goalkeeper Sarah Chadwick saved two shots, while playing the first half. Chloe Cook relieved her at halftime, playing the second 45 minutes in goal.
Ripon will conclude its Fall Trip Friday at Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C. That game will begin at 4 p.m. EST.
