RIPON, Wis. - Ripon College allowed St. Mary's to score once in the first half, but as it turned out, that's all the Cardinals would need to win 1-0. The Red Hawk defense played well all day, with freshman goalkeeper Angelica Cooper saving seven of the eight shots on goal that she faced. The Red Hawks were out-shot 16-4 in the game.
The lone goal came in the 28th minute, when Keirra Metcalfe passed to Bethany Kaufmann, who juked the goalkeeper for an easy score. Ripon had their opportunities, with two of their four shots coming on goal, both off the foot of Rachel Martzahl.
The Red Hawks will remain at home for Tuesday's game against MSOE, in a final tune-up before the second half of the conference season. Tuesday's match will begin at 1 p.m. at Prairie Field.
