NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Ripon dropped their second consecutive game to start the season on Saturday, losing to Macalester College 6-1. The Red Hawks managed just one shot on goal the entire game, while being out-shot by Macalester 28-2. The Scots also had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-0.
Macalester got on the board first, with a goal in the 20th minute, scoring from six yards out. They would add another point five minutes later on a Lauryn Gutierrez goal from the left side. Gutierrez added another just before the half for a 3-0 lead.
The Scots didn't let up in the second half, as Rose Betzler got into the action with a goal off a rebound. Liz Hormann and Lucy Miner capped the scoring for Macalester with a pair of goals that were 34 seconds apart. Ripon got on the board eight minutes later, in the 64th minute, with an Alice Fehlandt score from 10 yards out.
Ripon will look to turn things around on Thursday, when they'll come home to the friendly confines of Prairie Field. They will take on Finlandia University (MI) at 2:00 p.m. in their home opener, which will be followed by the men's contest against Finlandia.
