RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks hung in there with a tough Edgewood College team for a good part of the first half Saturday afternoon, with no one scoring in the first twenty minutes of the game. That quickly changed with an Eagles goal at the twenty minute mark. Ten minutes later, they fournd themselves up 3-0, en route to a 7-1 victory over the Red Hawks.
Edgewood's Tammi Haggensick got her team on the board first with a goal off a free kick. Erika Thompson and Amanda Rhyner quickly followed with goals of their own to cap the first half scoring. The second half was more of the same, with Edgewood's Molly Boberschmidt scoring just three minutes into the second half. The Eagles (1-0) would add another goal before Ripon could get on the board. Janel Karsten finally did the honors, giving Ripon (0-1) their first goal of the season, on a penalty kick. Edgewood would add two more scores after that point, outshooting Ripon 23-5 on the day.
The Red Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, as they'll host Marian College at Prairie Field. The game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
