Red Hawks Keep It Close At St. Norbert

October 13, 2007

Box Score

DePERE, Wis. - The Red Hawks battled to the end Saturday, but despite keeping the game respectable, lost 5-1 at St. Norbert College. Ripon managed to get off 13 shots in the losing effort, while the Green Knights shot the ball 19 times.

The Green Knights (9-3-1, 4-1-1) struck first, scoring twice in the opening period. Their first goal came in the 12th minute, via the foot of Jessica Schadrie. Schadrie added her second goal of the game, her 12th of the season, nearly five minutes later.

St. Norbert added to their lead in the second half, getting a goal from Ann Maki in the 48th minute, with the assist going to Jenni Jacobsen. The Red Hawks (3-11, 1-6) never gave up hope, getting on the board in the 55th minute, thanks to Rachel Martzahl's 10th goal of the season. St. Norbert was just too tough however, as they got that point back one minute later on  goal by Jacobsen, this time assisted by Maki. Maki would add another score in the 66th minute, which all but iced the game for the Green Knights.

The Red Hawks will try to put this game behind them, as they will now head out for some fun and sun in California. Ripon will play two games on their fall trip, beginning with Cal State-East Bay on Monday. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
