ATHERTON, Calif. - The Red Hawks dropped their second and final game on their fall trip to California on Thursday afternoon, losing to Menlo College 11-0. Ripon failed to get off a single shot, while Menlo attempted 39 shots. Ripon goal keeper Brenda Zastrow played all 90 minutes between the pipes, making 17 saves.
Menlo (9-6) didn't waste any time getting on the board, scoring their first goal just 57 seconds into the game on a goal by Pamela Ralston. Their next three goals all came on passes from Ralston, with the scores coming off the foot of Megan Finney, Kristina Leydecker, and Ryanne Bergstrom. Lindsay Dunlap capped the first half scoring with a goal from 25 feet out.
Amy Cusick netted the first two goals of the second half, giving Menlo College a 7-0 lead. They would add four more goals, including another by Ralston, who finished with four assists in the contest. Menlo's shots were distributed evenly, shooting 20 times in the first half, and 19 times in the second period.
Ripon will try to rebound from the loss on October 27 when they'll revisit conference play against Monmouth College. That game will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by the men's contest at Prairie Field.
