October 15, 2007

Box Score

HAYWARD, Calif. - Ripon's Fall Break didn't start out as they had hoped Monday, as they lost their first game of their two-game trip to California. The Red Hawks allowed six goals in the first half, en route to an 8-0 defeat to Cal State-East Bay.

East Bay broke a scoreless tie fifteen and a half minutes into the game on a goal by Christina Quitasol. Megan Domench got the assist on the opening goal, before scoring the second goal of the game six minutes later. Sarah Abfalter would add two goals of her own, while Quitasol also recorded her second score. Amber Stitt capped the first half scoring with a goal ten seconds before halftime.

The second half began just the way the first half ended, with a Cal State-East Bay goal. They scored their seventh goal of the afternoon in the 47th minute when Shannon Pile found the back of the net. Lee Anderson would add the eighth and final goal in the 74th minute. Ripon managed three shots to East Bay's 30. Brenda Zastrow made nine saves between the pipes for the Red Hawks.

Ripon will remain in California for the remainder of the week, and will play their second and final game of their trip on Thursday when they'll take on Menlo College. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. PST.
