RIPON, Wis. - The 2008 Midwest Conference Preseason Poll was released by the conference office Thursday, with Ripon voted into the eighth place spot. The Red Hawks will look to prove that poll wrong, as they enter the season as one of the more athletic teams in the conference, while also boasting a young nucleus of talented players.
Defending MWC champion Carroll University was picked to win the conference once again, receiving seven of the 10 possible first-place votes. Grinnell came in right behind them with two first-place votes of their own, while Lake Forest finished third in the voting with the only other first-place vote. St. Norbert was picked to finish fourth, followed by Monmouth, Lawrence, Beloit, and Ripon. Knox College and Illinois College rounded out the poll in ninth and 10th place, respectively.
