JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Ripon did something Saturday that they've
only done one other time this season. For the first time since
the first two games of the season, the Red Hawks have won two games
in a row, defeating Illinois College 3-1. The win also marks Ripon's
third win in their past four games.
Musu Jammeh got the scoring started for the Red Hawks in the 26th
minute on an unassisted goal. Twenty minutes later, the Lady Blues
tied it up on a goal by Susan Bergen. The game was evenly played,
as the 1-1 halftime score indicated. Ripon outshot Illinois College
10-9 in the game.
The tie was broken by Ripon in the 60th minute on an unassisted
goal by Bess Liebergen. The two teams then went back and forth,
jockeying for position, before Michelle Ebert tacked on an insurance
goal for the Red Hawks, extending the Ripon lead to two, which
is where it would end.
Ripon will look for three in a row, as they'll play their final
game of the 2006 season on Sunday at Monmouth. The game is scheduled
for 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by the men's contest.
