RIPON, Wis. - There wasn't much doubt from the outset about who
would win Wednesday's game between Mount Mary College and Ripon
College. The Red Hawks swarmed around the ball all day, en route
to a 15-0 victory at Prairie Field.
Ripon (4-9-1) got on the board in the second minute on a Rachel
Nelson goal, which she put in, unassisted. Musu Jammeh would soon
follow in the seventh minute, scoring off a Jill Jones pass. Four
minutes later, the roles would be reversed as Jones nailed her
team-leading ninth goal of the season, on an assist from Jammeh.
The Red Hawks would score seven more times in the first half, taking
an 11 goal lead into halftime. In all, 12 players got on the scoreboard,
including two goals each by Jones, Janel Karsten, and Rachel Horstman.
The Red Hawks dominated in every phase of the game, getting the
loose balls and attacking the net at all times. Ripon outshot Mount
Mary 47-0, while recording 30 shots on goal. 16 of those shots
were saved by Mount Mary goalkeeper Katie Zimmer.
Ripon will now resume conference play, as they'll wrap up the
season this weekend with games at Illinois College and Monmouth
on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Saturday's game against the
Lady Blues will begin at 11:00 a.m.
