RIPON, Wis. - Carroll out shot Ripon 40-3 Sunday, helping the
Pioneers win 3-0. Carroll got two quick goals in the first half,
and put another one up on the board for good measure in the second
half.
The Pioneers (7-5-1, 5-1) got off to a good start, as Liz Melcher
scored the first goal of the game in the seventh minute on a pass
from Trisha Konkol. Konkol then scored seven minutes later, unassisted.
After that point, Ripon (3-9-1, 1-6) was able to dodge several
chances by the Pioneers to take a respectable 2-0 deficit into
halftime.
The Red Hawks just couldn't get things going on the offensive
side of the ball however, not getting a shot off until the second
half. Carroll's Rachel Haberkost also got a shot off in the second
half, but hers found the back of the net in the 56th minute to
cap the scoring.
Ripon will next play Mount Mary College on October 25th in what
will be their final home game of the season, before resuming conference
play for the final two games on the road. The game against Mount
Mary will begin at 3:30 p.m.
