WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Red Hawks played even with Maranatha Baptist
for the first 46 minutes of Thursday's game. In the end though,
Maranatha (5-5) got the best of Ripon (2-5-1), winning 2-0. with
two second half goals.
The first of the two goals came in the 46th minute on a Julie
Muse goal, which she took unassisted. Twelve minutes later, Maranatha
was on the board once again on a goal by Emily Dow, which also
came unassisted. After that insurance goal, Maranatha played tough
defense, to assure themselves of a shutout.
Maranatha outshot Ripon 20-9, while also winning the corner kicks
3-2. Ripon's Abby Bartell saved 13 shots on the day, while Maranatha
goalkeeper Autumn Byers recorded six saves of her own.
The Red Hawks will be back in action on Saturday with another
non-conference game, as they'll travel to UW-Platteville for a
7:00 game under the lights. They will then pick up conference play
once again beginning with their Wednesday game against St. Norbert.
