September 2, 2007

Tournament Results

RIPON, Wis. - The 2007 Red Hawk women's golf team has the philosophy that it's a brand new game, as they are starting anew with a new head coach. In Cody Pinkston's first tournament as head coach, Ripon finished in second place out of two teams, finishing eleven strokes behind St. Norbert College. The Green Knights finished the day shooting a combined 409, while the Red Hawks team score was 420.

Ripon was led by Gina Heckl, who had the second best individual score of the tournament, shooting a 93. Freshman Katie Schumacher showed some promise by shooting a 107, while Amanda Holdshoe and Megan Anderson each finished with a score of 110.

St. Norbert had all four players record scores under 110. Andrea Liebelt led the way with a tournament-best 92, while Kayla Barley and Nicole Zechmann each ended up with a 105. Sara Nolan rounded out the team scoring by shooting a 107 for the round.

The Red Hawks will head North next weekend to take part in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. The event will be held at Westridge Golf Course in Neenah, Wis. It will consist of two rounds, beginning on Saturday, and finishing on Sunday.
