DePERE, Wis. - The Red Hawks had by far their best performance of the season Sunday at the St. Norbert Invitational, in what was their final meet before the Midwest Conference Championships. Ripon finished Sunday's round tied for first place with Lawrence University, who finished with an identical 320 team score. The Red Hawks lost the tiebreaker however, which goes to the best fifth-golfer's score.
Mike Moldenhauer led the Red Hawks with a five-over 75, which was tied for third best among individuals at the event. Rylee Berndt also had a sub-80 score, posting a 79 on the day. Raj Pelon recorded the third-best score by a Red Hawk, shooting an 82, while Ben Lukoski's 84 rounded out the team score. Lawrence's fifth-best score was six strokes better than Ripon's, which gave the Vikings the win.
Ripon will hope to keep this momentum going in next weekend's Midwest Conference Championships. That
three-day event will begin on May 1st and will be played at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill.
