WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. - The Red Hawks put forth a great effort and pretty good showing Wednesday afternoon, but couldn't defeat St. Norbert at the SNC Invitational. The Green Knights won the event with a team score of 377, which was 25 strokes better than Ripon's 402.
Ripon's Gina Heckl rebounded from a 46 on the front nine, to shoot a 39 on the back, giving her a second-best score of 85. St. Norbert's Andrea Liebelt was the only golfer to finish ahead of Heckl. Liebelt also struggled more on the front, shooting a 44, before also netting a 39 on the back nine, to earn medalist honors on the par 72 course.
The Red Hawk's next best score was Amanda Holdshoe's 100, which was good enough for fifth among individuals. Katie Schumacher finished seventh for Ripon with a 105, while Megan Anderson finished with a total of 112.
St. Norbert's Kayla Barley and Sara Nolan finished third and fourth, respectively, while Tracie Wasmuth finished sixth overall with a score of 101.
Ripon will close out the regular season this weekend, as they'll travel to Stevens Point, Wis. to take part in the
UW-Stevens Point Invitational. The two-day event will begin on Saturday and extend into Sunday.
