RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks had their share of ups and downs over the weekend, during their two invitationals. They started the weekend off great on Saturday at Beloit, finishing third out of eight Midwest Conference teams. They ended the weekend at Carroll, where they placed sixth out of seven teams in the two-day event.
At the Beloit Invitational, Ripon shot a team score of 328, which was just nine strokes out of first place. The Red Hawks were also just three shots off the pace of the second-place team. In the event, Ripon was led by Rylee Berndt, who shot a seven-over 79, which was eighth-best in the meet. Fellow Red Hawk Ben Lukoski wasn't far behind, shooting an 80, which is his best score of the season. Raj Pelon and Bill Kollatz finished 13th and 14th in the meet, respectively, with an 84 and 85.
Ripon was hoping that momentum would carry over to the Carroll College Invitational on Sunday and Monday, but they weren't as fortunate as they had hoped. Ripon finished sixth at Carroll with a two-round score of 669. They shot a 328 on the first day, before scoring a 341 on the final day of competition. Mike Muldenhauer led all Red Hawks in the event, shooting a two-round score of 154, which was seventh-best among individuals. Pelon finished tied for 16th with a final score of 162, while Berndt and Kollatz finished with a 174 and 179, respectively.
Ripon will be in action again on Saturday, when they'll take part in the Lawrence Invitational. That meet will take place at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Hortonville, Wis.
