Emily Meyer Gets All-Conference Nod

Emily MeyerRIPON, Wis. – Ripon freshman Emily Meyer took about half the season to make the adjustment to collegiate basketball and crack the starting lineup on a full-time basis. When she did get inserted as a starter, she was one of Ripon's go-to players, leading the team in rebounding, while finishing third in scoring. Meyer was honored for her efforts on Tuesday, as she was the only Red Hawk selected to the MWC All-Conference team, earning a Second Team selection.

In Ripon's 16 conference games, Meyer averaged 10.8 points and 7.4 rebounds, both of which ranked in the top 15 in the Midwest Conference. They Sherwood, Wis. native recorded four double-doubles this season, including an impressive stretch of three in a four-game span. That tied for eighth-most double-doubles in the conference. Meyer started 14 games for the Red Hawks, while appearing in all 23 contests. She shot 41 percent from the field during the season, while also shooting 72 percent from the free throw line.

The All-Conference First Team was led by Carroll guard Crystal Hoewisch, who was named MWC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She was joined by fellow Carroll Pioneer Kim Wickert, Lake Forest's Nicole Baich and Beth Lucas, St. Norbert's Linsey Propson and Morgan Strasser, Beloit's Christine Brown, Lawrence's Caresse Reiland, Grinnell's Hannah Wolf, and Monmouth's Ashley Yeast.

In addition to Meyer, the MWC Second Team consisted of Beloit's Katie McCool and Angie Meehan, Illinois College's Lauren Napier and Candace Norville, Monmouth's Melissa Gorski and Elise Waldorf, Knox's Jenna Finley, Lake Forest's Claire Schmidt, and St. Norbert's Rachel Hermus.
