Box Score

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon did something Wednesday night that they hadn't done in six previous attempts, beat UW-Oshkosh. In a game that featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes, the Red Hawks finally got the best of the Titans, winning in dramatic fashion, 66-63, in a game that wasn't decided until the final horn.

The game started out just as tight as it finished. The two teams traded baskets for much of the first half, with the largest lead by either team reaching six points. Each team shot the ball well in the first period, as Ripon made 50 percent of their shots, including 5-of-11 from downtown. UW-Oshkosh (1-2)was just as efficient from long range, drilling 4-of-6 three-pointers. Second chance points kept UW-Oshkosh in the game, as the Titans got nine of their 15 second chance points in the first half. Ripon (2-1) finished with just three points off an offensive rebound. After UW-Oshkosh's Arin Lane tied the game at 31 with three minutes left in the half, Ripon went on an 8-4 run to end the half, capped off by two Jeni Yaeger free throws, as the Red Hawks took a four point lead to the locker room.

The second half was more of the same, with the largest lead reaching six points once again. Just when it looked like one team was about to go on a run, the other would come up with a big basket. UW-Oshkosh held a six point lead with just under ten minutes to play, threatening to go up by even more. Ripon had an answer though, as freshman Amanda Lindauer made consecutive layups, cutting the Titan lead to two. The Red Hawks took their first lead since early in the second half on a Mona Delsman three-pointer with four and a half minutes remaining. The two teams traded baskets for the rest of the game, with the Titans tying it up at 63 with 32 seconds to play. Morgan Roberts would then miss a chance to go ahead with six seconds left, but would redeem herself just seconds later. After a Titan timeout, Roberts was able to steal the inbounds pass, and was fouled, leading to a three-shot foul. After sinking all three free throws with one second on the clock, the Red Hawks would walk away with the victory.

Ripon had four players score in double figures, led by Mona Delsman's 16 points. Roberts finished with 14, to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Lindauer, who made her first career start, and Jeni Yaeger each finished with 11.

UW-Oshkosh was led by Whitney Tyriver, who finished with 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting, six rebounds, and four assists. Kayla Sharpee and Becky Knapp scored nine points apiece, while Jessica Abitz finished with eight off the bench.

Ripon's next contest will be Saturday, as they'll face their biggest challenge of the young season, when they'll host the number five team in the country, Wheaton, at Storzer Center. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
