RIPON, Wis. - The 2007-08 women's basketball team is one of the youngest squads in the Midwest Conference, with freshmen and sophomores making up 13 of their 16 roster spots. A year after finishing 9-14 and tied for seventh in the MWC, the Red Hawks are hoping for a better finish this season. Thursday, they were picked to finish in about the same spot as last year, as they were selected seventh in the MWC preseason poll.

Leading the poll was Carroll College, who received eight first-place votes. They were followed by defending conference champion Lake Forest, who received one first-place vote. Right behind them was St. Norbert, who grabbed the other remaining first-place vote. Monmouth, Lawrence, and Beloit make up the middle of the poll, followed by the Red Hawks. Grinnell, Illinois College, and Knox rounded out the voting.
