Sara Heim Etches Her Name Atop Ripon's Record Book

September 18, 2009

Sara Heim

Sr., Libero

RIPON, Wis. - There is a new career digs leader at Ripon College and her name is Sara Heim. The senior from Wabasha, Minn. recorded 12 digs against Maranatha Baptist in the first day of action at the Ripon Invitational, giving her 2,065 digs in her career. That shatters the previous mark of 2,058, set by Sara Sanford from 2002-05. Heim followed that up with 26 digs against Central College, giving her 2,091 with half the season left to play.

Heim has been one of the most consistent players for the Ripon College program since first stepping onto the court as a Red Hawk in 2006. She has recorded three of Ripon's top seven single season dig marks, finishing with the second-highest total of 633 as a freshman. Heim followed that up with 591 digs as a sophomore and 513 last season, as a junior. Through 15 matches this season she has already recorded 354 (6.00 digs per set), which would be the second-highest average of her career. In addition to that, she holds the top five marks for most digs in a single match by a Red Hawk, including a school record 53.

Heim has been selected to the All-Conference team in each of the last two seasons. With a selection this year, she would become the first Red Hawk since 2004 to earn All-Conference honors at least three years in a row. Heim has also been selected to the Academic All-Conference Team the last two seasons.
