Ripon Defeats Alverno In Three Sets

RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks used a season-high 41 kills to defeat Alverno College in three sets Friday night,
25-11, 25-17, 25-18. Ripon led in nearly every statistical category, including 32 assists and 57 digs as a team, which was nearly double the totals of Alverno. Ripon was also very efficient on their attacks all night, with a .352 hitting percentage.

Anna Alvin paced the Red Hawks with a season-high 14 kills, while also connecting on three block solos and one block assist. Amy Patton and Emily Nichols chipped in with six kills apiece, while Alexis Becker and Christy Looker each finished with five kills. Alison Ernst set them all up on numerous occasions, giving her 30 assists in the match, to go along with two service aces and eight digs. Patton and Sara Heim were the leaders in the dig category, with 12 apiece. Andrea Zak also contributed 10 digs.

Alverno's lineup didn't change the entire match, playing only six players all night. Rebecca Schmid led the Inferno with eight kills and seven digs, while Ashley Graham boasted a team-high 11 digs, while recording three kills. Ball handling errors is what hurt Alverno all night. They committed 18 ball handling errors, while Ripon committed zero.

Ripon will try to continue this momentum as they'll host Wisconsin Lutheran on September 10 at 7:00 p.m. That game will be played in Ripon and can be seen live via webcast at www.midwestconference.tv
