Ripon Drops Three-Game Match At St. Norbert

DePERE, Wis. - The Red Hawks had a chance to pull within one half game of second place St. Norbert in the Midwest Conference standings on Wednesday night. Instead, it was the Green Knights who stayed alive for a conference title, defeating Ripon 30-24, 30-24, 30-25.

The Red Hawks (12-12, 5-3) were led by Anna Alvin's team-high eight kills and three blocks. Jeni Yaeger added seven kills of her own, while also adding two blocks. Ashley Schertz and Amy Patton each finished with six kills apiece, while Mary Friend and Alison Ernst combined for 30 assists in the match. Sara Heim once again led the defense, recording a match-high 20 digs.

St. Norbert (23-3, 8-1) recorded just two more kills than Ripon, while the Red Hawks mustered two more team blocks than did the Green Knights. SNC was led by Joanna Mamayek's match-high 14 kills and a team-high two blocks. Kate Meehan chipped in with eight kills of her own. Abby Scher recorded a match-high three service aces in the winning effort.

Ripon will close out their regular season this weekend against conference leader Carroll College, who is a perfect
7-0 in MWC play this season. That game will be played Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Waukesha, Wis.
