MWC Names Anna Alvin Conference Performer of the Week

October 9, 2007

Anna AlvinRIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawk volleyball team is in the midst of a five match winning streak, which is their longest such streak in three years. A big reason for Ripon's recent success has been the play of freshman middle hitter Anna Alvin. Tuesday, she was rewarded for her hard work and excellent play by receiving the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week award, as released by the conference office.

Alvin has helped the Red Hawks get off to a 5-1 start in conference play, including league wins over Lake Forest (3-2) and Lawrence (3-1) in their only action last week. The Beaver Dam, Wis. native recorded 14 kills apiece against the Foresters and Vikings, while also adding 10 blocks, eight digs, three assists and a pair of service aces in the two matches. During Ripon’s current five-match wining streak, Alvin is averaging over nine kills per match and leads the team with 124 on the season.
