RIPON, Wis. - The Midwest Conference released its All-Conference teams on Monday and three Red Hawks were honored for their outstanding seasons, in which they helped lead Ripon to a 14-13 record and a trip to the MWC Tournament. Sara Heim was the lone Red Hawk selected to the first team, while Anna Alvin and Ashley Schertz were tabbed to the second team.
Heim ranked fourth in the conference with 6.5 digs per game, recording 591 total digs this year. That ranks her fourth on Ripon's single season digs list, one year after making the second-most digs in a single season. The sophomore currently ranks fourth in career digs by a Red Hawk with 1,224. In addition to her dig numbers, Heim also ranked fourth on the team in service aces, with 17.
Alvin burst onto the scene this season in a big way, earning her second team honors. The freshman middle hitter led the team in kills with 224 (2.43/game), while also ranking second on the Red Hawks in blocks with 85 (0.92/game). Joining Alvin on the second team was Schertz, who led Ripon in blocks, recording 96, including 40 in their nine conference matches. The senior was also fourth on the team in kills with 156 (1.71/game).
