RIPON, Wis. - The Red Hawks came out of the gates Wednesday looking
like they would win in easy fashion. Ripon took the first game
from Carroll College 30-24, but that's all they'd get as the Pioneers
rallied to win the match 24-30, 30-24, 30-24, 30-23.
The Red Hawks (10-13, 2-4) finished the game with 50 kills, compared
to Carroll's 61. Jeni Yaeger had 20 of those 50, while recording
a .562 hitting percentage. Sara Heim led the Red Hawks with 29
digs, while Jessica Chatmon had 12 digs, two block solos, and nine
block assists.
Carroll (10-11, 4-1) was led by Nikole Bohn, who excelled in many
different areas. Bohn recorded 10 kills on 14 total attempts, while
also leading the team with 46 assists. Bohn also recorded 16 digs
in the game. Barb Peters led the Pioneers with 15 kills.
Ripon will try to get back on the winning track this weekend,
as they'll travel to Beloit for their second Midwest Conference
Crossover tournament of the season. The Red Hawks will play Knox
College at Noon, and Monmouth College at 4:00.
