BELOIT, Wis. - Ripon College played two of their best matches,
back-to-back on Saturday, as they won both their matches at the
Beloit crossover tournament. The first victim of the Red Hawks
was Knox, followed by Monmouth.
In the first match against the Prairie Fire (1-22, 0-6), Ripon
won 30-28, 30-22, 30-15, as their play improved as the match went
on. Amy Patton led the Red Hawks with seven kills, while Christy
Looker added six. Ripon (11-13, 3-4) finished with 34 kills in
the match. Sara Heim recorded 19 digs, while Amy Patton had 11.
Jessica Chatmon chipped in with two block solos and five block
assists.
In the second match of the day, Ripon improved their conference
record to 4-4, which is the first time they've been at the .500
mark since the second conference game of the year. Leading the
attack against the Fighting Scots (15-11, 3-4) was Chatmon, who
led the team with 10 kills. Looker and Patton recorded eight and
seven, respectively. Ashley Redman chipped in with 21 assists,
while Mary Friend added 15. Sara Heim once again led the team in
digs with 23.
The Red Hawks will now take a break from conference play, as they'll
head to Emory University for Fall Break, where they'll play four
matches in two days. The first match is Friday, October 20th, and
will begin at 2:00 p.m.
