OSHKOSH, Wis. - One week after competing at UW-Oshkosh, Ripon made the trip north once again this week. Both teams fared similarly, with each of them placing fifth at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. The meet featured six other teams, including two other Midwest Conference squads (St. Norbert and Carroll). UW-Oshkosh won both the men's and women's meets.
Ripon's men earned 23 total points, which was 25 points behind fourth place Carroll College. Demba Camara had the best showing on the team, finishing second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump. Camara earned eight points in the long jump, making a distance of 20-05. Camara's triple jump distance of 43-00.50 was just 1.75 behind third place.
The women's team finished with 39 points, which was seven points ahead of St. Norbert. The Red Hawks were led by Brittany Dick in the track events. Dick finished second in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:54. Jenni Marcell also earned a top three finish for the Red Hawks. Marcell placed third in the shot put, earning six points for the team. Marcell threw a distance of 38-06.
Ripon will next travel to Stevens Point for a meet next weekend. The Red Hawks will compete in the Eastbay Multi-Event meet on Friday, before competing in the Eastbay Invitational on Saturday. Those two meets will begin at 3:00 p.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
