WHEATON, Ill. - The Ripon men and women each had similar finishes Friday afternoon at the Wheaton (IL) Invitational, with each team finishing eighth out of 12 teams, which included a few NCAA Division I schools. The men's team earned 42 team points, while the women scored 26 points.
Alex Tomsheck led the men's team with a second-place finish in the high jump, which was the highest individual finish on the team. Jamie Reese and Bob Wood each added fourth place finishes for the Red Hawks in the long jump and 110 meter high hurdles, respectively.
On the women's side, senior Jenni Marcell continued her outstanding season, finishing in the top two in three different events at Friday's meet. Marcell finished second in both the shot put and discus, while also winning the hammer throw.
Ripon will be back in action next weekend, when they'll host the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Ingalls Field. That meet will begin at about 10:30 a.m.
