Men and Women Finish In Top Nine At Tadd Metzger Invite

KENOSHA, Wis. - Both Ripon's men's and women's teams had success at Saturday's Tadd Metzer Invite on the campus of Carthage College, each finishing in the top nine out of nearly 20 schools. The men's team scored 39.5 team points, to finish in seventh place, while the women's team posted 24 points, to finish in ninth.

Demba Camara was the only Red Hawk to win an event, finishing first for the men in the long jump. His jump of 21-00.75 was .75 longer than the second place finisher. Camara also finished seventh in the triple jump, with a distance of 42-09. Bob Wood placed in the top four in the 55 meter hurdles, with a time of 8.23, while Max Bellmore finished seventh in the high jump, with a height of 6-01.50.

The women's team was led by a few individuals with fifth place finishes. Jessica Davey earned fifth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:35.62. She was joined by Rebecca Duley's fifth place finish in the 1000 meter run, running a time of 3:23.63. Erin Beggs finished three seconds behind Duley, in sixth place, in the same event. Leading the way in the throwing events was Jenni Marcell, who finished fifth and sixth in the shot put and weight throw, respectively.

Ripon will try to improve on their finishes next weekend at the Eastbay Invitational in Stevens Point, Wis. That meet is scheduled for Saturday, February 9th at 10:30 a.m.
