RIPON, Wis. - Ripon hosted their second consecutive track meet on Saturday, as three other conference schools (Carroll, Lawrence, and St. Norbert) also took part in the Ripon Invitational. No team scores were recorded in the meet, which saw nine Ripon athletes win their respective events. The Red Hawks also had eight second-place finishes, and eight more third-place finishes.
Jessica Davey and Michael Dussault each won the 800 meter run, Davey in 2:34.91, and Dussault with a time of 2:03.15, which was 0.41 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The Red Hawks also dominated the 3000 meter run, with the top four places all coming from Ripon. Harrison Smith won the event with a time of 9:08.59, and was followed by Ben Worcester, Lucas Felten, and Cody Jolin. Jamie Reese and Alex Tomsheck also placed first in the long jump and high jump, respectively, with distances of 6-23 and 6-00.75. Jenni Marcell continued to dominate as well, winning first in the discus, shot put, and javelin.
This was a nice tune-up for next weekend, when the Red Hawks will travel to Galesburg, Ill. to take part at the MWC Championships, hosted by Knox College. That event will begin on May 9th, and continue into the following day.
