Results

KENOSHA, Wis. - Ripon battled several other private colleges from around the state in Saturday's Wisconsin Private College Championships, with the Red Hawks placing in the top three in several different events. The men's team finished eighth, while the women ended the meet in third place. The host school, Carthage College, won both the men's and women's competitions.

The Red Hawk women earned 135 team points, which was 18 behind second place Carroll College. Ripon saw themselves win three events, as Brittany Dick placed first in the 3000 Meter steeplechase and Jenni Marcell won both the discus and hammer throw. Dick also finished second in the 800 Meters. The long distance runners had a great day, as Jessica Davey and Erin Beggs each finished second in the 5000 and 10,000 Meters, respectively. Trisha Jones also finished second in her event, the 400 Meter hurdles, while fellow Red Hawk Cassy Gerard earned second-place in the pole vault. Cami Miller was yet another Ripon woman to place second in her event, the shot put.

The men's team didn't fare quite as well as the women, as they earned 51.25 points as a team, which was eight points behind Concordia (WI) for seventh place. Demba Camara had the best finish of any Red Hawk on the men's team, winning the triple jump with a distance of 45-03.50. Aaron Kammer and Bryan Schneider were the only other athletes on the men's team to earn top-three finishes. Kammer placed third in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:02.36, while Schneider was third in the 10,000 Meters, running a time of 34:18.49.

Ripon now has one more meet before the conference championships, which will be hosted by Ripon College. The Red Hawks will be in action Saturday in the UW-Madison Twilight in Madison, Wis.
