Red Hawks Face Great Competition At Illinois Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - The Red Hawks faced several tough teams at Saturday's Illinois Benedictine Invite, which saw 20 teams compete. The Ripon men ended the meet in 18th place, while the women's team finished in seventh place. Monmouth won the men's competition and Lewis University took home the women's crown.

The men were scored six points as a team. They were led by Jim Hen's seventh place finish in the 1500 Meter Run. Hein's time of 4:09.41 was just .41 seconds behind sixth place. Harrison Smith also earned a seventh place finish in the 5000 Meter Run, finishing with a time of 16:43.60.

The women's team ended the meet with 37.50 points, which was just 1.5 points behind sixth place and fellow Midwest Conference team Beloit College. The women's team was led by Brittany Dick, who finished third in the 800 Meters with a time of 2:22.30, just seven seconds off the pace of the winner. Dick also came in fourth in the 1500 Meters, as she ran a time of 4:52.94. Ripon's best showing in the field events came in the shot put, which saw Cami Miller and Jenni Marcell finish fourth and fifth, respectively.

Ripon will be in action once again next weekend, as they'll take part in the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Kenosha, Wis. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 p.m.
