OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's men's and women's swim teams took on a tough UW-Oshkosh squad Saturday afternoon, with similar results at the end of the day. The men's team lost to the Titans 153-58, while the Red Hawk women fell by the score of 193-30.

One bright spot for the men's team was the performance of Brandon Taylor, who was the only Ripon swimmer to post two second-place finishes. Taylor was second in both the 100 yard butterfly and 500 yard freestyle with times of 59.35 and 5:30.38, respectively. In both races, Taylor was just a couple seconds away from a victory. Also taking home second place finishes were Zach Smith and Bill Rodgers. Smith swam a time of 2:01.53 in the 200 yard freestyle, while Rodgers was less than four seconds off the pace in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.03.

The Ripon women were led by Jenni Schalla, who was the only Red Hawk woman to finish second in an event. Schalla swam a time of 2:28.84 in the 200 yard IM, which was just two seconds off the top time. Megan Rice also had a good day, with a pair of third place finishes in the 100 and 200 yard freestyles. In both races, Rice was three seconds away from winning the event.

The Red Hawks will be in action again Saturday at Beloit, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
