Women Win Two, Men Drop Pair At Carroll Dual

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The men's and women's swim teams had opposite results Saturday at their double dual at Carroll College in what was their first meet since December 1st. Facing Beloit and Carroll, the women's team notched wins against both teams, while Ripon's men's team lost to the two other Midwest Conference schools.

The women defeated Beloit 99-91, while also coming away victorious 114-71 against Carroll. The Red Hawks were led by Jenni Schalla, who won two separate events. She was victorious in both the 200 yard IM and 200 yard breaststroke, winning with times of 2:27.06 and 2:41.87, respectively. Katie Corbett and Megan Rice also won events for the Red Hawks. Corbett swam a time of 2:24.18 for the win, while Rice won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.32. Ripon also managed to win two relay events, finishing first in both the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle.

The men's team didn't fare quite as well, as they lost to Beloit 114-69 and to Carroll 107-69. Despite the results, Ripon still managed to have a couple individuals win their events. Matt Stensberg was victorious in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:20.54, while Parker Heaps won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.84. Ripon's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Bruce Kukowski, Patrick Shunk, Cameron Arndt, and Zach Smith finished second in their event, just five seconds off the pace of the event winner, Carroll College.

Ripon will be in action once again on Friday, as they'll travel to Beloit, Wis. That meet will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Beloit College.
