WAUKESHA, Wis. - In a meet with two other Midwest Conference teams, Ripon College finished fourth in both the men's and women's team scores. In addition to Carroll and Monmouth, the other teams that participated in Saturday's meet were Northern Michigan and the Marquette Swim Club.
The men finished with 101 points, which was 147 behind host Carroll College. Monmouth won the men's competition with 450 total points. The women on the other hand ended the day tied for fourth with the Marquette Swim Club. Ripon's women finished with 146 points, which was 33.5 points behind third place Monmouth. Northern Michigan won the meet, scoring 377.5 total points.
In individual competition, Parker Heaps gave the Red Hawks a win for the men in the 1000 yard freestyle, swimming a time of 10:58.62. Ryan Hendricks also fared well for the men, finishing second in the 200 yard breaststroke. Hendricks finished with a time of 2:29.70, which was 11 seconds behind the winner.
The women's best finisher was Amy Jones, who came in third in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:49.37. The women's 4x400 yard freestyle relay came in first place. The team of Jones, Jenni Schalla, Erin Oakley, and Shannon Colburn finished with a time of 4:09.30, which was eight seconds better than the next best time.
