APPLETON, Wis. - On Sunday, Jonny Gausewitz took his third conference
title with a first place in the 200 breaststroke, breaking a school
record in the event with a time of 2:10.62. The men finished in
fourth place with 506 points and the women placed sixth with 412.5.
Gausewitz was also a member of the record-breaking fourth place
400 free (3:18.24) relay team with Brian Macak, Ryan Hendricks
and Parker Heaps. The senior was a MWC Champion in three individual
events (200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 breast stroke), setting Ripon College
records in all three events. The four relay teams he was on also
set school records. On the third day, other men's top-five finishes
included a second place for Heaps in the 1650 free (17:02.59) and
a third for Macak in the 200 back (2:03.36), which is also a new
Ripon record.
On the women's side, Emmy Giovanni took a fifth in the 100 free
in a school record time of 55.11. The senior won the 200 free,
and set RC records in the 100 free (as the opening leg of the 400
free relay), the 200 free, and the 500 free. She was also on three
relays that set school records.
All-in-all, the men and women broke 21 Ripon College records at
the 2006 MWC swimming championships and had its highest team finish
