Gausewitz and Giovanni Take Titles at MWC Championships

Appleton, Wis. - For the second day in a row, Jonny Gausewitz took a first place at the Midwest Conference Championships. He finished in the top spot in the 400 IM, breaking his own school record in the event by 24 seconds with a time of 4:11.98. Emmy Giovanni, also broke her school record in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.48, taking the conference title for the event. After day two of competition, the men remain in fourth place with 366 points and the women are still in fifth now with 294.5.

Gausewitz was also a member of the record-breaking second place 200 medley (1:39.45) and 800 free (7:22.85) relay teams. Joining him on the former was Brian Macak, Ryan Hendricks and Parker Heaps and on the latter was Macak, Heaps and Andy Kitslaar. Other men's top-five finishes included a fourth place for Heaps in the 200 free (1:48.44) and for Macak in the 100 back (55.97), which is also a new Ripon record. Hendricks had a fifth in the 100 breast (1:01.90)

Giovanni was also a member of the 800 free relay team with Becca LaClair, Erin Oakley and Amy Jones that took fifth (8:45.29).
