Giovanni Takes Two Top Threes to Help Women to Fourth Place Finish; Men Place Fifth

Kenosha, Wis. - Emmy Giovanni placed second in the 200 IM and third in the 500 free to lead the women to a fourth place finish. Parker Heaps, Brian Macak, Jonny Gausewitz and the 200 relay team all took seconds to help the men to fifth.

Giovanni was just off the first place pace with a time of 2:21.75 in the 200 to take second. Her time of 5:29.62 in the 500 free was good enough for third. The 200 free relay team, which included Melissa Will, Erin Oakley, Becca LaClair and Amy Jones, took fourth with a time of 2:05.07.

On the men's side, Heaps' time of 17:46.10 was good enough for second in the 1650 free, while Macak took second in the 200 back (2:06.62), Gausewitz was second in the 400 (4:26.07) and the 200 relay team, which included Heaps, Andy Kitslaar, Grant Erickson and Gausewitz finished second (1:37.14). Gausewitz's time in the 400 IM broke the Ripon College record by about nine seconds.

The swim team will be back in action at the MWC Conference Championships February 10-12 at Lawrence.
