RIPON, Wis. - Junior shortstop Natalie Geenen has already received many accolades for her outstanding play with the Red Hawks, including two consecutive MWC North First Team Selections. Monday, she added another award to her repertoire, as she was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week for the first time in her career. She served as Ripon's leading hitter last week, in which the Red Hawks won seven of nine games.
The Appleton East product batted .571 (16-28) in those nine games, with 10 RBI, nine runs scored, three home runs, three doubles, a triple and a stolen base. Her signature game of the week came in Ripon's 12-10 win against MWC South Division leader Lake Forest. In that game, Geenen was 3-for-4 with four RBI, including a three-run homer, which rallied the Red Hawks to the extra-inning win.
Geenen, who leads the MWC with an .887 slugging percentage, closed the week with her fifth home run of the season during a 4-2 win over defending MWC champ St. Norbert that salvaged a doubleheader split for Ripon.
