RIPON, Wis. - After 11 seasons and 365 combined victories as Ripon College head coach in volleyball and softball, Kelly Witte has decided to resign, effective at the end of the 2008 softball season. Witte has accepted a full-time faculty position at UW-Whitewater as the coordinator of coaching minor in the department of health, physical education, recreation and coaching.
"This will be an exciting teaching position that will provide new opportunities for continual personal and professional growth," said Witte. "Ripon College, its students, and especially all the athletes that I have been blessed to coach, will always hold a special place in my heart."
In her time at Ripon, Witte has been named Midwest Conference Coach of the Year four times, three for softball, and once for volleyball. She has led the Red Hawks to two MWC North Division titles in softball and one MWC North Division title in volleyball.
"Kelly has done an excellent job in building our volleyball and softball programs. Her enthusiasm for the sports and her caring for her players will certainly be missed. Kelly gave great service to the college and I wish her the best in her new position," Ripon College Athletic Director Bob Gillespie said.
