DE PERE, Wis. - Ripon entered Saturday's MWC Tournament game against Lake Forest having won six of their last eight games. One of those two losses came a day earlier to the Foresters in the double elimination tournament. The second day of the tournament brought the same result, with Lake Forest ending the Red Hawk's season 9-0 in five innings.
The Foresters (20-15) made a statement early by scoring two runs in the first inning and two more in the second. The first pair of runs scored on a two-RBI single with one out in the opening inning. They extended their lead to 4-0 in the second thanks to back-to-back doubles, and a single to lead off the inning.
Ripon (17-14) then held them scoreless in the third, before the Foresters broke the game wide open with five runs in the fourth. The inning was highlighted by a two-run double to cap the scoring, all but sealing the game.
The loss eliminated the Red Hawks, giving them third-place in the tournament. Lake Forest went on to lose 13-9 to St. Norbert in the championship game.
