Red Hawks Tabbed MWC North Player and Pitcher of the Year

RIPON, Wis. - The Midwest Conference released its All-Conference selections Wednesday, with the Red Hawks receiving a good amount of recognition. Shortstop Natalie Geenen was named MWC North Player of the Year, while Jen Mueller was selected as MWC North Pitcher of the Year. Those two also made the MWC North First Team, while fellow Red Hawks Jackie Reichhart and Krista Shafer received Second Team honors, helping Ripon to a 17-14 record and second place in the MWC North.

Geenen led the Red Hawks in batting with an average of .306, while also belting a team-high five home runs. The sophomore from Appleton, Wis. also led the team in runs (22), doubles (10), total bases (55), and slugging percentage (.561), while batting at the top of the order. She also added 14 RBI, while stealing two bases.

Mueller had an outstanding senior campaign, winning her second consecutive MWC North Pitcher of the Year award. The Little Suamico, Wis. native finished with an 11-8 record, and a MWC second-best ERA of 2.62. Mueller pitched 12 complete games out of the 15 she started, shutting out the opponent on three separate occasions. She also finished the season with 46 strikeouts, giving her a school record 226 for her career.

Reichhart batted .288, while starting 28 games in her freshman campaign. She finished the year with six doubles, one triple, and 10 RBI. Shafer rounded out the All-Conference selections, as she received the second of her career. The Junior batted .277 on the year, while starting all 31 games for the Red Hawks. Shafer scored 13 runs, while recording three doubles, one home run and seven RBI. The Oakfield, Wis. native also stole a team-high four bases.
