February 26, 2008: Week #6  

MEN

Max Bellmore

Freshman

Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville

Bellmore cleared a career and conference-best height of 6’04.00” in the high jump at Saturday’s UW-Stevens Point Invitational. The effort placed the freshman third in the event. Bellmore also placed fourth in the triple jump (41’11.25”) and ran the anchor leg on the third-place 4x200 relay team.
February 5, 2008: Week #3  

MEN

Jim Hein

Senior

Ripon, Wis./Ripon

Hein set a new school record in the 800-meter run at Saturday’s Tadd Metzer Invite at Carthage, finishing the race with a time of 1:58.73. Hein’s time topped his own previous record, which he set in 2006, and was the conference’s best time in the event this season. The senior was also a part of Ripon’s third-place distance medley relay team, which recorded a time of 11:10.99.

Scott Gillespie

Ripon, Wis./Ripon

Gillespie nearly led the Red Hawks to an upset over No. 3 UW-Stevens Point at home on Saturday, as Ripon eventually fell 71-67. The freshman guard netted a game-high 31 points in addition to grabbing two rebounds and handing out two assists in 36 minutes of action. Gillespie was 11-of-19 from the field, 2-of-6 from three-point range and 7-of-12 from free throw line in the game. His 31 points tied him for the most by an opponent against the Pointers this season and upped his season scoring average to 24.5 points per game, second-best in the MWC.

WOMEN

Jenni Schalla

Sophomore

West Bend, Wis./West Bend

Schalla helped Ripon to a pair of victories in their double dual against MWC foes Beloit and St. Norbert in the Red Hawks’ lone home meet of the season. The freshman won both the 400 yard IM and 200 yard breaststroke with times of 5:14.81 and 2:41.72, respectively. She was also a part of Ripon’s winning relay team in the 200 yard medley, which swam a time of 2:01.90. Schalla holds the MWC’s top times in both breaststroke events.

January 22, 2008: Week #7

WOMEN

Megan Rice

Freshman

New Berlin, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial

Rice helped Ripon to a second-place finish at the Beloit Triangular on Friday, winning two individual events, while also swimming a leg on a winning relay team. Rice finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.44 and also won the 100-yard freestyle (59.22). The freshman swam a leg on Ripon’s winning 400-yard medley relay team, which finished with a time of 4:31.16.
