WHITEWATER, Wis. - Ripon traveled to Whitewater over the weekend for a match against two talented teams. The Red Hawks lost their first match of the day 9-0 to UW-Whitewater, before dropping their second match 7-2 to the University of St. Francis (IL).
The Red Hawks (3-9) couldn't get anything going against UW-Whitewater (13-7), losing all six singles matches in two sets. The most competitive match came in number one singles, where Alex Lowe defeated Ripon's Dave Czarnecki 6-1, 7-6. Ripon also lost all three doubles matches to the Warhawks.
Ripon had a little more success later in the day against St. Francis (IL). Czarnecki was the lone Red Hawk to win his singles match, winning in number one play, 7-5, 2-6, 10-7. Czarnecki also teamed up with Ben Sweeney in number one doubles play to defeat USF's Jason Blauw and Pat Haaker 9-7.
The Red Hawks will open conference play on Friday, when they'll travel to Carroll College to face the Pioneers. That match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
