RIPON, Wis. - Ripon completed their regular season Sunday, defeating St. Norbert 5-4 to finish undefeated in the Midwest Conference North Division. This marks the third consecutive season Ripon has run the table in conference play, extending their conference win streak to 15.
The Red Hawks (5-7, 4-0) won just two of their singles matches on the day, as Ben Metzler and Andy Schaller came away victorious. Metzler defeated Adrian Acosta in tie breakers for both sets, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (8-6). Schaller won his number five singles match in more convincing fashion, defeating Chris Schmitz 6-4, 6-2.
The reason for the victory came during doubles play, where Ripon won all three matches. George Higgins and Dave Cazrnecki teamed up to win, as did Metzler and Schaller. Dan Weiler and Dan Rodriguez rounded things out with an 8-4 victory in number three doubles.
Ripon's next test will be the Midwest Conference Tournament, which will begin on Friday and continue into Saturday.
