Red Hawk Effort Not Enough Against Monmouth

April 13, 2007
Box Score

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon put up a fight in almost all of their matchups Friday afternoon, but Monmouth would go home with a victory, defeating the Red Hawks 6-3 in a cross-divisional matchup. The two teams split the six singles matches, but Monmouth was too much in doubles play, winning all three of those matches by two points.

Ripon's Dave Czarnecki, Ben Metzler, and Dan Rodriguez were the three victors in singles play, as all but Rodriguez won in two sets. George Higgins and Jacob Knaapen each lost in two sets, while Dan Weiler put up a tough fight, losing in a tiebreaker 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Monmouth then assured themselves of a 'W' by winning all three doubles matches by identical 8-6 scores.

Up next for the Red Hawks will be Lawrence University. Ripon will travel to Appleton next Friday, April 20 hoping to extend their conference record to 2-0 in the Northern Division. That match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
