COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Ripon held its won against Colorado College for one half of play. Things then changed for the worse in the second half, as the Red Hawks allowed three goals, en route to a 3-0 defeat in their first of two games out west during their Fall Break Trip.
Jordan Reese broke a scoreless tie in the 59th minute, putting Colorado College (8-6-1) on the board with his seventh goal of the season on a touch pass from Trevor Cobb. Brendan Douglas also netted his seventh goal of the season, 16 minutes later, on an assist from Chris Ellis. Ellis then capped the scoring with under four minutes remaining, his first goal of the season, on Cobb's second assist of the game.
Ripon goalkeeper Bob Bradbury saved six shots for the Red Hawks (5-11-1), while Colorado College's Andy McGhie saved three. Ripon was out-shot 21-6 in the game. One of Ripon's six shots came from Colorado native Jeremiah Riddile.
The Red Hawks will conclude their 2009 regular season Saturday against Carleton College in Colorado Springs. That game will begin at 2 p.m. (MST).
Ripon still has a shot at postseason play, as they currently sit in the fourth and final spot for a Midwest Conference Tournament berth, but their fate will be in the hands of some other MWC teams that are yet to complete their conference seasons.
