Red Hawks Go Scoreless Against Green Knights

RIPON, Wis. - St. Norbert College used six goals from five different players to defeat Ripon 6-0 Saturday afternoon. The Red Hawks allowed four goals to come in the first half, with three of them coming in a four-minute span mid-way through the period. The Green Knights outshot Ripon 30-6, with 18 of those 30 shots coming in the first half.

St. Norbert (7-4, 3-1 MWC) opened the scoring in the 24th minute, with a goal by Adam Sanchez, who was assisted by Ben Vanden Avond on the play. Less than two minutes later, Nick Hren made the score 2-0, before Kevin Conrath added a third goal in the 28th minute. The first-half scoring barrage wasn't completed until the 39th minute, when Tory Newberg found the net, unassisted.

The Red Hawk defense stepped up in the second half, holding St. Norbert without a goal, until the 83rd minute, when they netted two scores. The first one came off the foot of Adam Sanchez, his second score of the game, while the second came from Nick Anderson, to cap the scoring.

Ripon (2-9, 0-4 MWC) will try to recover from this game on Tuesday, when they'll travel to UW-Oshkosh. That game will begin at 7 p.m.
