RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's 2008 season came to an end Tuesday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering in a game that was close throughout. The two teams played to a scoreless tie at halftime, before MSOE finally put a goal on the board five and a half minutes into the second half.
The Red Hawks (3-14-1) out-shot MSOE (11-4-2) by an 11-6 margin, but could not find the net, partly because of MSOE goalkeeper Andy Blau, who made six saves. Ripon goalkeeper Ryan Crane had three saves of his own, while playing all 90 minutes.
With the score still 0-0, MSOE's Ben Spacek found an opening in the Ripon defense and connected on the only goal of the game, finding the net from about 30 yards away in the 50th minute. Ripon battled hard for the duration of the game and nearly tied the game with a couple minutes remaining, but senior Kris Hanson's shot ricocheted off the post, sealing the Red Hawk's fate.
